Phase Out Commitment: Selangor aims to fully phase out coal-fired power plants by 2045, significantly reducing our carbon footprint and transitioning to cleaner energy sources.
SAGE's energy transition is driven by four interconnected strategic levers, each targeting key areas of clean energy generation and storage to achieve our 2035 targets.
Transitioning from coal to cleaner natural gas as a bridging fuel, with 5,775 MW of green CCGT capacity and 3 MTPA natural gas supply by 2035.

Enhancing Selangor's baseload generation capacity through natural gas. Five-pillar strategy including PIPP operational excellence, KLPP life extension, Kapar New CCGT, PIPP2 expansion, and captive power market development.
Harnessing Selangor's river systems to generate clean, renewable hydropower. Seven small hydro projects across Hulu Selangor and Hulu Langat with strategic siting aligned with district industrialization.
Transforming Selangor's waste management ecosystem into a sustainable, resource-efficient system. Largest WTE asset owner in Malaysia with 4 projects totaling 5,500 tonnes per day capacity.
The engine for renewable energy aggregation - a one-stop platform for solar and BESS aggregation, land facilitation and approvals. 13,000 acres of identified land assets with 3GWac potential capacity.
Specialized initiative to supply green electricity to Selangor government facilities from centralized renewable energy projects, delivering measurable electricity cost savings to the State.
Addressing gas security challenges following the Putra Heights incident. Creating a redundant gas spine and city-gate owned, secured and monetized by Selangor to stop gas scares from chasing investors away.
Total green hydrogen ecosystem with over RM 100 million investment. Green hydrogen generation hub at Batang Kali utilizing existing small hydropower plant, producing 900kg/day of hydrogen.
Comprehensive EV charging infrastructure development across Selangor. WHB serving as programme facilitator and Charge Point Operator (CPO) with standardized user experience and transparent data sharing.
Exploring wind energy potential at coastal areas of Selangor. Part of the renewable energy diversification strategy to complement solar and hydro power generation.
